Nkata is an Igbo word which translates to basket in English language. In this series, I'm using "nkata" as a metaphor to create conceptual installations that highlight alternative functions of "strap belts'' beyond surface interpretations.Focusing on the functionalities of the strap and it's strength, each woven wift and waft of the basket-like forms alludes to the "igwebuike'' ideology of strength in multitude. Furthermore, beyond the wift and waft comes the entire basket which primarily is used for gathering or packing things. To me, I relate these to the human community, the importance of unity and cooperation among people.
